MGI Nordic Circle Meeting, Oslo 2016
The 2016 MGI Nordic Circle meeting took place on in Oslo, Norway, on 15 September. This year our host was MGI Worldwide member firm MGI Revisjon Asker DA.
The meeting attracted 16 delegates from the Nordic countries of Romania, Germany, and the Netherlands. It’s been a tradition of the Nordic members to bring along managers and partners from within their firms. This year, the team met four new people from Denmark, Norway, Romania and the Netherlands.
Global and local updates
The day was fairly busy. Delegates began with a welcome drink at the MGI Revisjon Asker office before receiving an update on MGI Global and European developments by Morten Ryberg and Zoltan Paksy.
Collaboration and its constraints
The meeting continued by brainstorming ideas on inter-firm collaboration and discussing potential constraints. The ideas discussed, were very much in line with those at the European Area Meeting. Participants suggested sharing more expertise, making joint offers, exploring new markets, and involving employees in MGI Worldwide matters. The single biggest barrier to collaboration was lack of time.
Looking to the future
During the second part of the afternoon, delegates enjoyed two inspiring presentations about the future of accounting. Ole-Herman Larsen, Head of F&A Operations in Telenor Global Shared Services talked about cultural challenges in a global operation and profitability of outsourcing, and shared his thoughts and initiatives related to accounting in the future.
Following this, Jan Hallerup from MGI Worldwide member firm Hallerup & Co. explained how his firm accounting software can automate accounting processes.
Seafood and Champagne
The day ended in the modern and vibrant district of Oslo, Aker Brygge, where Champagne and amazing fish platters pampered the participants.
Thanks again to MGI Revisjon Asker DA for their kind hospitality.
