MGI Australasia firm MPR expands with new partner

Former Grant Thornton partner Dean Schultz joins MGI’s Melbourne member MPR.

Dean Schulz, a former Grant Thornton partner, has joined one of MGI Australasia’s newest members, MPR Group.

The move will help the Melbourne-based firm develop expertise in areas around board advisory, regulatory compliance, investment or divestment of business, and transactions structures and support.

MPR Managing Partner Matt Murphy said the appointment is “another link in the chain of the significant growth MPR and MGI has seen recently, and continues to add to our expertise for our clients”.

Mr Schulz told Accountants Daily that he was attracted to MPR because of its depth of knowledge in international and corporate tax, board advisory, reporting and virtual CFO and CTO offerings. He also noted the firm’s expertise in R&D tax incentives and grants.

Grant Field, MGI Australasia Chair, said: "It once again demonstrates the high level of skill and expertise we have and attract within MGI at both our local firm level, like MPR in Melbourne, and at a global level. As a result, clients can do business internationally, yet retain the local service and relationships."

MPR joined the MGI alliance late last year as part of the region’s expansion efforts that has also seen it recruit Canberra’s Joyce|Dickson in recent months.

Commenting on joining MGI, Mr Murphy said: “We serve businesses ranging from small to medium, to the family business arena to large publicly listed entities. MGI brings a lot to the table for all of those clients. We also compete against the big-four quite often and this size, depth and breadth frankly, helps us.”
