MGI Worldwide with CPAAI hold joint Zoom call for China members with Mackrell International

After the successful call between MGI Worldwide, CPAAI & MI members in India, Audrey Danasamy, Asia Regional Director together with Sandeep Peters Mackrell International Asia Pacific Business Development Coordinator decided to replicate the call for members in the Greater China region.

The zoom call held on the 8th of May was attended by China-based MGI Worldwide member Dickson Leung of LehmanBrown and Hong Kong-based Ken Yeung from Kenneth Chau & Co.. CPAAI member from Macau's Keng Ou CPAs, Jason Cheung also joined the call. In attendance from Mackrell International were Jade & Fountain PRC Lawyers from China, Hong Kong’s Weir & Associates and Louis & Charles Attorneys at Law from Taiwan.

This was the first time all the member firms in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau were met together, including their respective managers. “The virtual introduction of each of the firms and their key contacts was significant in itself,” said Audrey.

A variety of topics covered

The firms discussed both the financial and legal issues facing the greater China region including:

  • Legal issues that employers need to be aware of while rearranging working hours, working from home for employees because of COVID-19
  • Compensation issues at these trying times.
  • mgi-cpaai-mackrell-china-call-x400.jpg Shanghai, China member explored the new policy of China on Foreign exchange. Jun Yang from Jade & Fountain said “with globalisation being questioned by few countries and the overseas investments being sluggish for the next few years it is a great step making acquaintance with accounting firms of our sister network. Together we are stronger and can definitely complement each other”.

Hong Kong’s Weir & Associates communicated on how Hong Kong has become a destination for parking funds and how you can claim pensions and other benefits in Hong Kong from other countries.

“Seeing the success of this initiative in the UK, India and greater China we have members of both the network connecting in other regions as well. Zoom calls between members in Canada and Latin America had been organised and were well received,” said Sandeep of Mackrell International. He hoped that similar calls amongst members in other countries in the Asia region will soon be arranged.
