Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for a good cause
The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) gathered a group of volunteers to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with the objective to raise fund for its mobile mammogram unit which goes around the country to conduct free breast cancer test for women aged above 40.
MGI Vision supported the project by raising USD 20,000 including some contribution from the firm itself. The firm approached some of their clients and educated them about the project and its far-reaching benefits to the society. The firm offered to display the banner of those clients who contribute more than USD 3,000 at the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro
Piyush Thakkar from the firm was one of the 20 volunteers who attempted the climb, which took 7 days. Only 15 of them made it to the Uhuru Peak successfully. Piyush said “the hike was tough, especially trying to cope with the altitude sickness but it was the most satisfying thing that I have ever done in my life”.
Congratulations and well done to the team at MGI Vision Chartered Accountants and especially to Piyush who made it to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro
