The MGI UK & Ireland Partners Conference was a great success, with more than 100 delegates and a strong level of content, writes Paul Winder.
In keeping with the theme of collaboration, Colonel Bob Stewart, former head of UN forces in Bosniaand MP for Beckenham, delivered an excellent keynote speech highlighting what collaboration means in the real world from both a military and political perspective. This was all relevant to us in the wider business community.
Nick Jankel, chief executive of WECREATE and an expert in leadership and collaboration, gave a powerful presentation on the Friday morning, looking at the practicalities of making collaborations work. Nick’s presentation was inspiring, fast-paced and enjoyable. The detailed material on Nick’s presentation, which is on our website, will enable members to revisit what he talked about in their own time.
The MGI Apprentice was a great success, with all six groups putting forward new accounting products and services ranging from the highly amusing to the downright criminal! Those who took part did so in excellent spirit and, most importantly, everyone had fun. Each team also managed to produce some fantastic presentations in a very short space of time. The groups all seemed to be well led by the ‘lucky six’ attending the Developing Leaders in Practice (DLP) course.
The venue, the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club, was absolutely terrific. I am sure we will use it again in years to come. In the meantime, I am already looking ahead to the 2013 conference.
