MGI UK & Ireland’s newest member, Scottish firm Jeffrey Crawford & Co, is looking forward to sharing expertise and best practice with other members worldwide.

The Edinburgh-based firm offers a comprehensive range of services but has a particular specialism in both domestic and international tax, making MGI membership particularly attractive.
Owner Bob Crawford said: “We did not join MGI to get referrals – we joined because we knew it would give us the ability to build contacts across the world who can help us with our international tax work and, of course, so that we can help them too.
“I also know that Margaret Ross, who runs our audit department, is particularly looking forward to attending the various UK and Ireland forums held throughout the year as these will enable her to speak to other like-minded people.”
Bob set up the firm in 1979, having previously lectured to ACCA students in Iran on UK taxation until being forced to leave as a result of the Iranian Revolution.
Today, Bob continues to run the business as a sole proprietor, supported by a 20-strong team. He regularly lectures on matters ranging from international tax to VAT investigations and sits on the Tax Tribunal and several technical committees of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
The firm is regularly called upon on a consultancy basis by other accountants and professional practices, major blue chip companies and international corporations.
Both Bob and Margaret attended the UK & Ireland Conference in November, where they were able to properly introduce themselves to members and talk about the work they do.
