26th June 2014
I had the pleasure of attending the MGI European Area meeting in Berlin, Germany on 12-14 June, writes Helen Coombes, tax director at HB&O.
The two day event was introduced by European Executive Director of MGI, Zoltán Paksy, and was attended by delegates from all over Europe including myself and my colleagues Sarah Wilson and Mark Ashfield representing HB&O.
The setting for the informal dinner and drinks reception on the Thursday evening was the historic Reichstag; the home of Germany’s parliament and government quarter where we were offered a tour of the dome and a chance to take in the amazing views.
This provided the perfect chance for guests to mingle and I took the opportunity to catch up with a number of people I have been dealing with but had not met personally. These events are a great way to build and strengthen relationships.
On the Friday morning we received an overview from Clive Bennett, CEO, about what the MGI alliance will look like in 2015, and he later opened a discussion about the future of MGI.
There were a number of interesting topics discussed during the two day event, including a useful talk about ‘Building Business Relationships through LinkedIn’ by Philip Calvert, and a talk from Des Caulfield from MGI Adelaide about the MGI network in Australia. It was interesting to hear how it works for them as a network rather than an alliance.
