The main ethos at MGI is like-minded member firms working together in a non-competitive way to deliver the best possible results for their clients, writes Paul Winder.
By way of example, CI Accountancy and Watson Buckle are currently working together on a couple of trust cases.
The first involves CI assisting in formulating part of the defence for a Watson Buckle client who is currently the subject of an HMRC investigation.
The second involves a family trust where the family have fallen out. CI is acting for two of the five family members (with Watson Buckle acting for the rest) in order to bring the trust to a satisfactory conclusion.
Additionally, Watson Buckle is now pitching for the tax and audit work for one of the parties CI is acting for as a result of this joint engagement – further proof, if any were needed, that being part of MGI can open up new business opportunities.
Meanwhile, Seymour Taylor has been working with Midgley Snelling.
Kate Drozd from Midgley Snelling has been working with Seymour Taylor’s audit and accounts team over a couple of weeks in March. Her knowledge of working on IRIS software made the switch from Midgley Snelling to Seymour Taylor seamless. Seymour Taylor welcomes her support, along with that of Tracey Wickens.
It is a fantastic benefit that all MGI companies have the opportunity to work collaboratively, between firms if needed, and really shows what a difference being part of the alliance can make.
