6th October 2015
During the last quarter we have had the fourth SWAT training session and the second tax forum of the year. The SWAT day covered practice management in the morning which included lock up management, billing, time recording, charge out rates, recovery rates and office efficiency to name just some of the matters covered. In the afternoon the focus was on strategic planning, whether for clients or internally, and the group followed a suggested structure in a case study.
The tax gurus gathered in Bristol recently for a dinner hosted by Milsted Langdon followed the next day by the formal meeting. As ever with our tax forums, we had a vibrant gathering. The agenda for the day started as a blank sheet of paper but all attendees contributed topics to discuss, cases to consider or shared recent experiences. The discussions covered probate, IFA's, buy to let mortgage relief, EIS, SDLT and de-enveloping, Abbeytax, tax schemes, a VAT update, common reporting standards, court of protection, fee protection, penalties, ebay trading, how to get the best results from tax tribunals, transfer of assets abroad, R&D and Interactive Data. A full and valuable day.
We have an audit forum on 6 October and the second managing partner forum which will include the inter firm comparison in November, the original date of 18 November may change to ensure all firms can attend and I will update those concerned on this very soon.
