A group of students from schools in Bradford have gained an insight into the world of finance thanks to Watson Buckle.
Young people from Beckfoot School and Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College had a unique opportunity to experience a career in accountancy during a visit to Watson Buckle’s offices, as part of Bradford Work Inspiration Week.
During their visit the students got to speak with two of the practices’ Audit Managers, Selina Bocskei and Gillian Corcoran, and were shown a presentation covering who the firm are, what they do and the various paths to becoming an accountant.
The presentation was followed by a question and answer session and a tour of Watson Buckle’s premises. The 11 young people who took part in the visit also had the chance to try their hand at reviewing accounts.
This is the third year that the practice has taken part in Bradford Work Inspiration Week, an event organised by E3 Bradford, which aims to create a new enterprise curriculum for local schools and colleges, with the intention of delivering home grown talent to the business community.
Watson Buckle’s Managing Director, Susan Sedgwick, said: “Helping young people in Bradford is something that is very important to us as a firm. We are committed to giving something back to the communities we work within and projects like this are an important tool in helping us encourage more people to consider a career in accountancy.
“The Bradford Work Inspiration Week is something that we strongly support and we were absolutely delighted to have these youngsters come to our office to see what we do on a daily basis.”
