MGI World MGI Worldwide UK & Ireland Area June Newswire

There are two major areas to focus on at MGI UK & I this year. The AGM being held in London and being hosted by the whole region is definitely something to look forward to. The daytime, accompanying persons and evening agendas are set with only a few minor tweaks to the actual conference programme remaining. There is also a post conference river trip to Greenwich and a visit to The Shard on the Saturday which gives UK & I delegates time to relax and network with international colleagues. If you haven't yet booked for the conference, do give it urgent consideration. I might even extend the early bird discount deadline if you get back to me in the next few days!

The second major topic this year is whether your firms opt to join the MGI network or whether you remain an alliance member and by default become a member of M.Int. The feedback I have had from firms that I have visited more recently is that you will join the network just to protect the MGI name that you have promoted along with your own firm's name for many years. Others I have spoken to earlier in the year will become members of M.Int but do not hold the name chosen in high regard at all. The third alternative would be to leave MGI altogether and sadly that is the path Rowleys are taking as they have now left MGI. I know Robert and Tony in particular at Rowleys have enjoyed and benefited from their membership but they have told me that the way the network debate has been handled has left them feeling blackmailed into joining the network which they have objected to and acted on accordingly. I am sure that those of you who know people at Rowleys will join with me in wishing them all the best for the future.

So, back to the AGM. We will be preparing a conference brochure and you will all be given the opportunity to promote your firms within it. We will also be giving delegates a London survival pack that will include London essentials such as an Oyster card, an umbrella, maps/guides, a bottle of London Pride and who knows what else. Please send me your ideas for other London essentials. You will also have the opportunity to sponsor some of these items if you want to and emblazon them with your firm’s details. I am really looking forward to the AGM and hopefully together we will make it a great success.
