From my perspective I thought the Small Business/Business Services Forum on 23 June was a really valuable day. Everybody came well prepared and shared experiences and ideas. We had a real mix of delegates from managing partners to department managers but I would be surprised if anyone didn't go away with a few ideas ranging from billing practices to information presentation, outsourcing to marketing.

Topics for the day included targeting clients and pricing, services offered, information presentation (and thanks to Darren for running through an RK MI pack), on-line accounting (considering training, billing, marketing, different suppliers, Xero, Sage, Free Agent, Kashflow etc.), bookkeeping, use of apprenticeships in training, payroll (pricing and service delivery plus being part of the tax department rather than business services), auto enrolment, marketing (bookkeeper lunches, demonstration of MI to banks, mail out to newly incorporated companies, targeting first time landlords), paperless accounting using pro audit (thank you James at CBW for showing us how CBW do non audit paperless jobs), managing quiet times/workflow, tax return work for business services clients staying in the department, and not doing CA checklists on non audit Ltd. Co's.
