25th July 2016
The second of nine training days planned for MGI UK & Ireland member firms (New Group) was held earlier this month.
The topic for the second SWAT training day for our new group was Supervising People.
The day began by considering "the team" and how best to manage its different members, recognising that everyone has distinctive personality traits. The alter ego states of parent, child and adult were then examined - those attending clearly recognising the differing reactions they get from other team members fitting into these categorisations. A good deal of time was spent on effective delegation techniques, recognising that one cannot treat everyone in the same way and expect the same outcomes.
Performance, targets & appraisals
Later in the day we covered performance review, target setting and finally effective appraisals. Overall, a really good day from a really engaged group.
Thank you to Paul Winder for hosting the event and to those MGI UK & Ireland members who attended:
Freda Akram, Sandra Robinson and Jennifer Bowie of Watson Buckle Limited
Gaynor Goldswain, Louise Bryan, Melanie Deacon and Laura Robinson of Seymour Taylor
Matt Jevons of Muras Baker Jones
Apologies from Hayley Jones of Rickard Luckin
