Alternate TextThe latest technology and how accountancy firms can use it to improve their businesses will be the focus of this year’s MGI UK and Ireland partners’ and managers’ conference – and non-members are also welcome to come along and share the insights provided.

The international association of accountancy firms is having its annual get-together from 26 to 28 November, under the title ‘The Future’s Bright – The Future’s Already Here’.

The conference agenda has now been finalised and will include a keynote speech from respected scientist, inventor and TV and radio personality Professor Heinz Wolff, who will be provide an insight into the possible future of technology within professional firms and the likely impact on their working practices and delivery of services to clients.

MGI are delighted to have CCH as their primary conference sponsor. A representative from Blackberry will be talking about technology ‘must haves’, while speakers from HMRC and Companies House will discuss online filing. Disaster recovery and the need for a plan will be the theme of one session. A presentation from the IASB will focus on XBRL and future financial reporting requirements while other speakers will include representatives from Apple Inc, Digita, JE Consulting, ICAEW and Xero.

Paul Winder, chief executive officer of MGI UK and Ireland, said: “These conferences are always a great way for our members to get together and receive some real insights into the issues affecting the industry today.

“We are also happy to welcome guests to the event, particularly anyone who might be considering whether to join our association, to hear from the speakers themselves, as well as getting the chance to talk with existing members about the benefits of being part of MGI.”

The event will be held at Lane End Conference Centre, in Buckinghamshire, near Heathrow Airport. The cost per attendee will be £325 + VAT, including all food and accommodation. For more information visit www.mgi-uk.com or call +44 1825 872113.
