This four-part professional development programme has been designed for MGI's NextGen community and professionals from across the network.

Each module focuses on a different aspect of professional growth, from increasing professional impact and building confidence to enhancing communication and navigating feedback. Whether you're stepping into a new role, deepening your technical expertise or continuing to develop your career, you'll gain practical skills you can apply immediately.

The programme is delivered by Stretching the City, a leadership development consultancy renowned for its coaching programmes that build confidence, strengthen performance and create lasting behaviour change.

Communicating clearly, constructively and professionally

Giving and receiving feedback is an essential professional skill — yet one many people find challenging. This session offers practical frameworks for navigating feedback and difficult conversations with greater confidence, whether that's upward, peer-to-peer or with a client.

What we’ll cover:

  • Reframing feedback as a development tool, not a judgement
  • A practical model for giving feedback that lands
  • Receiving feedback well — and what to do with it
  • Upward and peer feedback in a professional context, not just manager-to-team
  • Managing emotional responses (yours and theirs) in difficult conversations

Participants will leave with:

  • A clear, usable framework for giving feedback
  • Language for opening, navigating and closing difficult conversations
  • Confidence to engage in feedback in any direction — up, across or down
  • A practical commitment to apply before the programme wraps up
