The 2022 MGI Africa Region Meeting will be hosted by Alekim & Associates at the Crowne Plaza, Nairobi. This one and a half day Africa Region meeting is especially important because it will be the first in-person meeting post-Covid and the first time we will have met together since the merger with CPAAI and it will set the strategy and direction for the Africa Region moving forward.

Nairobi is the capital and the largest city of Kenya. Kenya has the most vibrant economy in East Africa, and Nairobi is the main commercial centre of the country.

The name Nairobi comes from the Maasai expression meaning "cool waters", referring to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. Nairobi was founded in 1899 by the colonial authorities in British East Africa, as a rail depot on the Uganda Railway.

Today Nairobi is home to thousands of Kenyan businesses and over 100 major international companies and organisations. Nairobi has a well-developed infrastructure, including modern financial and communications systems. The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is one of the largest in Africa and the second-oldest exchange on the continent.

Nairobi is also the largest industrial centre. The principal products include processed food, beer, vehicles, soaps, construction material, engineering, textiles, and chemicals.

I look forward to seeing you in November.
