MGI Worldwide accountancy association member, Pierpaolo Vannucci, partner at Lucca-based MGI Vannucci e Associati, interviews a foreign entrepreneur who has successfully established their thriving business in Italy, in his recently published article in Tuscan expat magazine, Tuscany's Grapevine Magazine.

In the August edition of the magazine, Pierpaolo met with Canadian businessman Mr. Moti Biya, who developed his fashion business selling men’s suits, to a high-end range featuring premium fabrics and craftmanship under the brand IZOTTI.

A history as a fashion hub

Italy has long been renowned for the quality of its craftsmanship, particularly in relation to clothing and fashion and around one third of Europe’s fashion giants are either Italian or operate out of Italy. Despite this, Moti hadn’t initially considered Italy as the base for developing IZOTTI until meeting a fashion student from Florence and discussing the passion for men’s clothing there.

Establishing the business in Italy

Pierpaolo went on to discuss with Moti how the Italian culture is often misunderstood and that it is, in fact, a friendly place to do business and not difficult to get things done. Moti benefitted from a team of talented, ambitious Italians who helped to drive his business vision forward and concluded that “

“My advice to anyone looking to invest in Italy is to give it a try. It has been a very welcoming place for business and the country still has huge reserves of untapped potential.”
