In a bid to enhance professional skills and stay abreast of the latest industry standards, the MGI Africa region has taken a significant step towards online training for its members.

The inaugural session, focusing on International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 315, witnessed enthusiastic participation with 37 delegates from 8 firms including a firm from the MENA region. The four-hour session delved into the significant changes introduced in ISA 315 (Revised 2019) and their implications for auditors. It aimed to familiarize attendees with the new concepts and understand their impact on audit engagements.

The value of continuous learning

The decision by the Africa region committee to conduct online training at the behest of the members in the region reflects a forward-thinking approach, acknowledging the importance of continuous learning and professional development. By leveraging digital platforms, the region aims to overcome geographical constraints thus ensuring that all members have access to quality training opportunities.

The success of the training session owes much to the efforts of MGIRAS, particularly under the leadership of Millycent Mashele. The region thanks MGIRAS for their invaluable contribution and their willingness to share insights and best practices to the members.

The upcoming lineup of modules are as follows:

  • AUDIT EVIDENCE (ISA 500REVISED, EXPOSURE DRAFT 2022)
  • FRAUD (ISA 240 REVISED, EXPOSUREDRAFT 2023)
  • GOING CONCERN (ISA 570REVISED, EXPOSURE DRAFT 2022)
  • AUDITS OF LESS COMPLEXENTITIES
  • IFRS CHANGES AND UPDATE (IFRS 9, 15, 16, 17)
