MGI India launches Firm-Level AI Mastery Programme — over 200 join first session
On 1 August 2026, MGI India took a significant step in bringing artificial intelligence into everyday practice, launching the first session of its Firm-Level AI Mastery Course — a five-module programme designed to build practical, immediately usable AI skills across our member firms.
The Power to Grow, in practice
The response was outstanding. Over 225 staff members from all five MGI India member firms registered for the course, which consists of five four-hour virtual sessions, making it one of the largest cross-firm training initiatives the region has run to date.
Why this matters
The premise of the programme is simple: AI is no longer experimental. From reasoning through complex problems to generating production-ready code in minutes, the tools available today can meaningfully change how CA firms work — if practitioners know how to use them well. Rather than covering AI in the abstract, the course is built entirely around real chartered accountancy workflows: tax research, audit sampling, client correspondence, GST compliance, and firm operations.
Session 1 alone covered eleven practical topics, including:
- The current state of AI and what it means for the profession
- A six-element framework for writing high-quality prompts
- Live demonstrations comparing Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini
- Voice-to-text dictation and browser automation tools
- Building a GST knowledge system covering 900+ circulars and notifications, with every answer citing its exact source
- Automating client email workflows with Google Apps Script
- Using AI directly inside Excel, Word and PowerPoint to build dashboards and client deliverables
- Building and deploying a working web tool — an income tax calculator — without any prior coding background
For participants, the takeaway is a genuinely broader toolkit: staff at every level, from partners to article assistants, now have a shared starting point for using AI responsibly and effectively in daily client work — saving time on document review, drafting, and research, while keeping review discipline intact.

This initiative was mooted and driven by CRS Consulting, who also liaised closely with the faculty to bring the programme together for MGI India. In her opening remarks, Audrey thanked CRS Consulting and Anuj for the initiative and the work behind the scenes in making it happen — a reminder that programmes like this only come together through members stepping up for one another.

About the faculty
The course is delivered by CA Shailesh Wadhawaniya ("AI Dhurandhar"), a practicing Chartered Accountant and National & International Faculty who has trained over 10,000 professionals and business leaders — including large corporate cohorts such as the Adani Group — on applying generative AI to real audit, tax, compliance and business workflows. He serves as National Faculty across multiple ICAI committees and consults on ESG/BRSR reporting and Industry 4.0 adoption.
What's next
The programme continues on 22 August 2026, with Session 2 focused on Excel, Tally and Python automation. Three further sessions will follow, rounding out a curriculum that spans everything from frontier AI models to local, privacy-first AI tools.
