MGI Joyce|Dickson lends a helping hand to MGI Parkinson

In a great example of trust and collaboration within the MGI Australasia network, MGI Joyce|Dickson in Canberra, recently supported fellow member firm MGI Parkinson in Perth, by lending staff to help manage a temporary work capacity issue.

When MGI Parkinson’s Perth office found themselves short on resources, MGI Joyce|Dickson stepped in with a practical solution. Three of their team members, Kate Garrett, Andrew Allen and Ryan Simpson, began a four-week secondment, staying in their Canberra office but working full-time under the management of the Perth team.

Lorin Joyce, Managing Partner at MGI Joyce|Dickson explains:

“We’ve probably had more staff than work for the first time in a long time. Whilst on a routine call, I mentioned this to Ian Bond, one of the partners at MGI Parkinson, and almost jokingly, he said, ‘Oh, maybe I could borrow a couple.’ So that’s what we did.”

The arrangement not only helped the Perth office meet its immediate workload but also provided a valuable opportunity for the staff involved to experience a different work environment and gain new insights.

Ian Bond appreciated the support provided by MGI Joyce|Dickson, saying:

“To be able to lean on a fellow MGI firm and their team, knowing that the work would be performed in a professional and timely manner was of significant benefit to us. The willingness of the staff to learn and adapt to our procedures and the different clients was a credit to them and their attitudes to help the MGI network."

Kate Garrett, Principal at MGI Joyce|Dickson commented on her experience working for MGI Parkinson.

“It was an invaluable experience where we got to be hands on and see practically how another firm in the MGI network operates. Seeing other systems and processes in action, gain insights into different clients and being trusted to work independently from a remote location were all part of the challenge and all part of the fun.”

This collaboration stands as a testament to the supportive, flexible relationships that exist across the MGI network.
