MGI Latin America members gather in Buenos Aires to celebrate first in-person meeting since the merger

MGI Worldwide accounting network member firms in LATAM gathered in Argentina for their 2022 Annual Conference

Earlier this month, long-standing MGI Worldwide member firm MGI Jebsen & Co. hosted the long-awaited MGI Latin America Region Meeting in the stunning city of Buenos Aires. This was the first in-person regional meeting since the merger and members were eager to reconnect with old friends and meet new colleagues.

Attracting some 70 delegates from 22 countries, this was Latin America's largest gathering to date, with more than 30% of delegates attending such a meeting for the first time. The region was happy to have MGI Worldwide's International Committee, Regional Directors and global staff in attendance and welcome Chris Borneman as the new CEO. The meeting also provided the opportunity to say farewell to Clive Bennett and thank him for all he has contributed to the Latin America Region over the years.

The meeting consisted of presentations from the region and its member firms, technical seminars, updates from the global team and plenty of time for networking and reconnecting. Evening events included a welcome cocktail with string quartet and roaming opera singers, dinner at a fine Argentinian steak house, night time city tour, fire shows, and a a post-conference day out to a traditional 'estancia' (farming estate) with horse-riding and traditional Argentinian churrasco (barbecue).

“Buenos Aires received us with the hospitality that characterises MGI Jebsen & Co. A very fruitful meeting with interesting content, great evening entertainment and, above all, the joy of seeing great friends again and meeting new friends with whom we have only been able to have virtual contact. It was good to return home with renewed expectations and objectives, with new goals and above all, the satisfaction of belonging to a global group that is committed to working together. I hope that this motivation spreads throughout our organisation”.

“The meeting was just as I imagined it. Since our merger was announced in 2019, I have been looking forward to meeting my MGI Worldwide partners. However, the pandemic prevented us from doing this until the 2022 Latin American Region meeting. It was just as I imagined it: a feeling of harmonious coexistence, and I realised that everyone felt the same way. Everyone shared the same joy at seeing one another in person. Added to this was the attendance of the international delegation and team. Without a doubt a resounding success and we are already looking forward to the 2023 meeting in Cancun”.

Thank you

Thank to everyone who joined us and an especially BIG thank you to the MGI Jebsen & Co. team who organised the whole event.
