MGI members join global accountancy leaders at Mexico City’s IFAC Connect event
Earlier this month, the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) hosted IFAC Global Connect: Better Together 2025 in Mexico City, bringing together regulators, investors, and IFAC member organisations from around the world. Some of its main objectives were to increase alignment in global reporting, strengthen regulatory consistency, and explore how artificial intelligence and new technologies are influencing the profession.
Mexico City members Rafael Castellanos Perez, from MGI Bargalló, Cardoso y Asociados, and Cuauhtémoc Contreras, from Zesati Contadores, took time out to represent MGI Worldwide at this prestigious, invitation-only, event.
Private equity and AI in accounting
One of the main points of focus was on private equity, and its impact on accounting firms. It was interesting for our members to understand how these models are transforming the structure and growth of practices, as well as to hear international perspectives on trends that are already beginning to be felt in the region.
There was also conversation around the responsible use of artificial intelligence within the accounting profession. The discussions underscored the importance of adopting new technologies while maintaining ethics, quality, and professional judgment—essential elements for preserving public trust.
“It was very important for us to attend this event because it allowed us to understand how the accounting profession is evolving, and what the global trends are, as well as to expand our network of professional contacts, and gain access to opportunities for professional development.”
— Cuauhtémoc Contreras | Zesati Contadores
"Participating in this event was an extremely enriching experience. One of the aspects I value the most is that I had the opportunity to meet and connect with colleagues from different parts of the world. It was truly gratifying to see the broad recognition that MGI Worldwide enjoys, reinforcing the sense of belonging to a strong, global organisation with real presence and prestige in the profession."
— Rafael Castellanos Perez | MGI Bargalló, Cardoso y Asociados
Overall, the event was not only informative but also inspiring, offering a clear view of how the profession is adapting to global changes and how, within this landscape, MGI maintains a visible and well-respected role.
