MGI welcomes new member in Kabul, Afghanistan
Having trusted local expertise in markets around the world is one MGI’s great strengths. We are therefore delighted to welcome Expand Audit and Financial Services Co., based in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a new member of the MGI Association.
Established three years ago, Expand has a team of 19, including seven professionals, and provides external audit, tax and financial advisory services. With more than 50 years of combined audit experience, the firm brings valuable local knowledge and a commitment to delivering quality, professional services.
A new chapter for Expand
We caught up with MGI key contact and Managing Director Abdul Hafiz Niaz, who leads the firm alongside fellow partner Raihana Barekzai, to find out more about Expand, why joining MGI matters to the team and what fellow members can expect from their new colleagues in Afghanistan.
What opportunities does association membership bring to Expand?
"Operating in Afghanistan presents challenges, particularly when it comes to accessing the professional resources and support available in more established markets. Joining MGI gives us the chance to learn from experienced firms around the world, access international methodologies and technical resources, and continue raising the quality of the services we provide."

Local knowledge, international expertise
For those less familiar with Afghanistan, what can Expand bring to the table?
"We can offer something valuable – first-hand knowledge of a market that many international firms have limited experience of. We understand the local regulatory environment, the NGO and donor-funded sector, and the practical realities of operating here. We would be very happy to share that knowledge and support fellow members with clients or interests in Afghanistan."
What should fellow members know about the people behind Expand?
"We are a relatively young firm, but our team brings considerable experience. Our professionals hold international qualifications, including FCCA, ACCA, CPA (UK) and CFE, and together have more than 50 years of audit experience. We can provide services across Afghanistan and are proud of the expertise and commitment our team brings to every assignment."
