Top 7 largest accounting associations in Latin America

MGI Latin America is the region’s seventh-largest accounting association by fee income, according to the IAB.

MGI Latin America is one of the region’s largest accounting associations and is now on the hunt for new members to join.

According to latest figures compiled by International Accounting Bulletin (IAB), the firms generated a combined $22.5 million in the year to the end of June 2014, placing MGI seventh by fee income in Latin America.

MGI Latin America is also seventh in terms of staff numbers, after a three per cent rise in employees over the year.

Ricardo Ruiz Betancourt, of MGI P&P Asociados Contadores Publicos in Venezuela, told IAB that MGI Latin America members are creating a new network that will operate within the association.

Betancourt, who represents Latin America on MGI’s international committee, expects the new network to be fully up and running by 2017. “The objective is to improve the overall audit quality of our firms and also to recruit better firms as MGI members,” he added.

For now the focus is on recruiting new members in countries where MGI currently lacks coverage – Honduras, Paraguay, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and several countries in the Caribbean.
