What does 'DIVERSITY - EQUITY - INCLUSION' mean to your Firm? Is it an important issue?

Dr McGregor shared insights about DEI with MGI Worldwide accounting network members during last Marketing call

Increasing DEI - Diversity - Equity - Inclusion is on the minds of many accounting firm leaders, but there are still questions about how to actually achieve it.

To quote a recent article, “Accounting Profession Continues to Zero in on DEI Issues” published by The Journal of Accountancy, the ‘Leaders of the accounting profession have demonstrated a heightened commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as this issue has grown exponentially in prominence over the past year.’

Research also suggests that a 1% increase in diversity can lead to as much as a 9% increase in performance because it allows companies to ‘think outside the box’ by bringing previously excluded groups 'inside the box’.

Recently, during our 9 September Marketing Zoom Call, we had the opportunity to meet Dr. Catherine McGregor and hear her expert opinion about DEI

catherine-mcgregor.jpg Dr. Catherine McGregor, MCMI, ChMC, author, management consultant, and expert in human centered skills in business and law has kindly joined our bi-weekly Marketing Zoom call to share her insights about DEI, and alignment with your Firm’s culture, marketing, branding, and positioning, recruiting, and retention and career development.

- What does DEI mean to your Firm?

- Is DEI an important issue to your Firm?

- If it is important, what are your plans and initiatives? If not, why?

- Have your clients or prospects discussed DEI and its importance to them?

- Have your staff or prospective recruits discussed DEI and its importance to them?

- If you thought that DEI was only for larger firms, how are smaller and mid-sized firms addressing DEI?

- Are there best practices to follow and missteps that your Firm should realise?

Firms can’t become more diverse overnight, especially if they want to avoid negative press associated with their culture so what are the steps your Firm can take now to help create positive change for the future and develop a strong culture in terms of DEI?

We hope you can join us for a lively discussion on this important topic!

As always, we invite all members and levels of staff to join us to exchange ideas and continue our lively discussions, especially Marketing, Business Development, HR, Firm Administrators and Partners
