A year in reflection: Strengthening the Global VAT Group

Looking back over the past year, it is clear that the Global VAT Group has continued to build momentum. Through shared expertise, regular engagement and a strong willingness to work together, the group has strengthened its position across the network.

As part of this journey, the Global VAT Group leaders Fabian Thumm and Francesco Bartolucci attended the 2025 UK & Ireland Regional Conference in Manchester last November. The event brought together over 100 delegates from 15 countries and provided a valuable platform to engage with members from across the region.

The conference highlighted the importance of connection in driving meaningful collaboration. Through in-person discussions and informal exchanges, Fabian and Francesco were able to share insights into the VAT work being delivered across the network and raise awareness of the group’s capabilities.

Global VAT group continues to add value

VAT is complex by nature, particularly when applied across borders, where local rules, interpretations and practical challenges can differ significantly. At the same time, many core principles and client issues are shared. The Global VAT Group continues to add value by bringing these perspectives together, allowing members to learn from one another, align approaches and deliver consistent, high-quality advice internationally.

... and continues to grow

This energy reflects a year of real growth for the Global VAT Group. More members are actively working together on client matters, joining group sessions and contributing to the VAT newsletter, reinforcing a culture of shared learning and practical cooperation.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, the Global VAT Group is entering its next phase with confidence. With an expanding base of engaged members, stronger cross-border relationships and a clear ambition to deepen technical collaboration, the group is well positioned to deliver even greater value to clients and the wider network in the years ahead.
