Expanding horizons: MGI’s successful workcation journey from Australia to Mexico
Thanks to MGI's workcation initiative, members can discover new opportunities, combining vacation time with work. Recently, David Gribben from Accru Felsers in Sydney, Australia, experienced this blend of work and travel at Mexico City’s MGI Bargalló Cardoso y Asociados.

Mexico City adventure
Earlier this year, David packed his bags and travelled 12,500 km to Mexico City for an 11-week extended holiday, made possible through MGI’s workcation initiative.
Thanks to the support and warm welcome from the team at MGI Bargalló Cardoso y Asociados, David was able to continue his regular work for Accru Felsers by seamlessly plugging into a new office environment - while also enjoying the vibrant life and culture of one of the world’s most exciting cities.

David shares:
“I quickly settled into the rhythm of life in MGI Bargalló Cardoso —cycling through the bustling streets, discovering new neighbourhoods, and of course, sampling the city’s endless supply of tacos."
At work, the office space near Andrés Osorio’s team became David’s new professional base, providing not just a workspace, but a genuine sense of camaraderie away from home.

MGI providing valuable connections

Andrés comments:
“It’s been great having David with us these past weeks. What stands out the most is how incredibly hard-working he is – he shows up, gets straightto work, and barely stops until it’s time to leave.
“Honestly, I wish my whole team worked like that! His focus and discipline have really set the tone in our area of the office.
“Even though he keeps a low profile, David blended in effortlessly with the team. He’s easygoing, sharp, and always open to engaging with how we do things. His good sense of humor and thoughtful insights made his time here both productive and enjoyable.
“Having him around has been a great reminder of how valuable these international experiences can be – not just professionally, but in building real connections across teams.”
Give it a go!
Reflecting on his time, David appreciated both the professional setup and the friendships that emerged naturally along the way.
“It’s been handy to have an alternate place to work other than my apartment,” he said, adding that the atmosphere made getting work done enjoyable. “The idea of a workcation, is amazing—and if people have the opportunity to do it, I think they should give it a go.”
