Latin America Talent Meeting: Nextgen growing, connecting and stepping up
This August, NextGen professionals from across the region came together in Panama for the second MGI Latin America Talent meeting, with this year’s event attracting an even bigger group of 25 delegates, from 16 member firms, across 9 countries.
Joining them was Andrés Osorio, Partner at MGI Bargalló Cardoso & Asociados, and Latin America representative on the NextGen International Committee, who brought his trademark energy and enthusiasm to lead the group throughout the event.
More than simply a meeting, the event was designed by, and for, MGI's next generation of profesionals – a chance to get to know one another, share experiences, learn, exchange ideas and, above all, develop relationships that reach beyond individual firms and national borders.
A growing NextGen community
The event began with a welcome dinner and introductions, creating a relaxed atmosphere where participants could quickly get to know one another. It set the tone for the following day: open, informal and interactive, with everyone encouraged to share their views, contribute ideas and get involved.
The programme focused on topics relevant to young professionals as they develop their careers and prepare to take on greater responsibilities and future leadership roles within their firms.
Alongside sessions led by external guest speakers, participants took part in a group negotiation exercise and discussed one of the biggest topics shaping the future of the profession: the impact of AI and the opportunities it presents.
Learning, connecting and growing
A key aim of MGI's NextGen is to give participants practical ideas and tools they can take back to their firms and use in their day-to-day work, while helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to grow as professionals and future leaders.
But NextGen is about much more than learning. Just as important is the opportunity to strengthen relationships between young professionals across the region and create a genuine sense of community within MGI Latin America.
It is great to see how the group is developing from one year to the next – not only growing in numbers, but also becoming increasingly engaged and involved. The energy and enthusiasm in Panama showed just how keen the next generation is to play an active role in the future of our network.
Just the beginning
Regional Director, Andrea Pallas, comments:
"Our ambition is for NextGen in Latin America to become much more than an annual meeting. We want it to provide an ongoing space for sharing ideas, learning and collaboration, while giving younger professionals an increasingly active role in the life and future direction of our network.
"We encourage everyone who took part in Panama to keep in touch and make the most of the opportunities available through MGI Worldwide and MGI Latin America – from meetings and training to virtual groups and new initiatives as they develop.
"Plans to keep connected are already in place as next month the group will come together again for another virtual Coffee Chat. We look forward to seeing everyone there!"
