MGI Madagascar member FTHM Conseils focuses on Africa as it celebrates anniversary

MGI member FTHM Conseils this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, highlighting an unprecedented longevity for a consulting firm in Madagascar.

Specialising in two core business segments - namely strategy consulting and management services and outsourcing (BPO or business process outsourcing), the company assists businesses in their creation and development.

During its first years of activity, from 1994, FTHM provided software development services, as well as services related to privatisation efforts in the oil and airport sectors.

With the bursting of the internet bubble in 2001, FTHM had to revise its strategy and redeploy in new business areas. While remaining strongly focused on the private sector, the firm also started to conduct institutional missions for development projects, public entities and donors.

Working on different projects financed by AFD, the World Bank, or the United Nations, FTHM Conseils has intervened in recent years in many areas, including microfinance, water and sanitation.

Between 2002 and 2009, the company diversified its areas of intervention through accounting outsourcing services and from 2007, with the launch of EQUATION, outsourcing of human resources management services.

But with the financial crisis in 2009, FTHM Conseils had to revise its strategy once again in order to be less dependent on the local market and turned its focus on the international market.

With its recognised expertise and its ISO 9001 certification, FTHM Conseils carried out a number of several missions throughout Africa, in countries such as Comoros (since 2008), including project management for the Central Bank of the Comoros.

FTHM also carried out missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including a first mission in 2010 on behalf of the ICCN related to the definition of a trust fund for the environment, as well as in Cameroon and Ivory Coast in 2013.

The company now counts more than 40 permanent consultants and collaborates with numerous national and international partners who bring additional expertise.

Thanks to 20 years of existence and a turnover reaching Ar3.7 billion for consulting activities (approximately €1.15 million) in 2013 with more than half coming from its international activities, FTHM Conseils is now aiming to become the leading consulting firm in Africa. Global turnover of FTHM group amounts to Ar12 billion (approximately €4 million) for all consulting and BPO activities.
