MGI Member in Brazil evaluates audit on President

MGI's member in São Paulo, Brazil evaluate President Dilma Rousseff's contentious audit.

MGI SengerWagner Auditores Independentes, MGI's member in São Paulo, Brazil, was called in to evaluate a contentious audit carried out on President Dilma Rousseff's election campaign accounts by the country's Superior Electoral Court.

The audit included allegations of significant irregularities. Our MGI firm's conclusions revealed, however, that the audit was severely flawed, with miscalculations, duplicated posting of "absurd" amounts, summing errors and conceptual mistakes.

MGI SengerWagner's Managing Partner, Cláudio Wagner concluded his report:

"The recommendation [of the court audit] that the President's accounts should be rejected is wholly improper, given that the quantity of material errors contained in the audit opinion make it unusable in practice to support such a recommendation."

This issue and our member's report have had major coverage in the Brazilian press and are part of a heated debate about calls for the President's impeachment and wider allegations of corruption in the political establishment.
