MGI UK & Ireland members have completed our first Professional Skills Development Course, which took place over a three-year period in conjunction with SWAT UK.

During this time, members took part in nine days of training on a range of skills including client care and communication, marketing, leadership, commercial awareness, sales and cross selling.

Presentation, networking and negotiation skills were also covered, as were strategic planning, practice management, developing rapport and personal effectiveness, all of which members will be apply to their work in their own practices in the future.

Six MGI UK & Ireland members successfully completed the first course: Liza Rowles and Richard Burniston of Seymour Taylor, which is based in High Wycombe; Angela Falder of Weybridge-based MGI Midgley Snelling; Jodie Stead of Rickard Luckin in Southend-on-Sea; Rebecca Hurford of Bradford-based Watson Buckle, and Adrian Simcox of Muras Baker Jones, which is located in Wolverhampton.

MGI UK & Ireland Area Coordinator, Paul Winder, who facilitated the Professional Skills Development Course along with Judith Fogarty of SWAT UK, said: "I am delighted to have worked with the first group of MGI UK & Ireland representatives to have completed this programme.

"Over the three years, the development and growth of character that all have shown was really inspiring."

Following on from the success of the first course, a second group of members are now just over halfway through the same programme, while a new course is also being devised that should be ready to commence in the autumn - watch this space for details.
