MGI Worldwide global accountancy network hosts another successful Talent Meeting

MGI Europe and MGI UK & Ireland host the third MGI Worldwide accounting association Talent Meeting

This year saw MGI Europe join forces with MGI UK & Ireland to host the third MGI Worldwide accounting association Talent Meeting. The event, held in January at London’s Heathrow Airport, attracted 80 delegates from across the two regions.

Networking dinner gets meeting off to a good start

About half of those attending chose to arrive before the day of the meeting to take the opportunity to get in some early and very social networking over dinner. Based on the constant chatter and the time it took to have dinner I think it is fair to say that introducing this optional dinner was a great success for all those participating.

The Talent meeting formally began the following morning at 9.30am to give those flying in on the day plenty of time. However, from 8.30am delegates were again coming together to make the most of informal networking opportunities. For almost half of the delegates, this was their first MGI Worldwide event.

Once all delegates had taken a minute to introduce themselves, Maxine Brock, International Marketing Director, gave an enthusiastic presentation on why networking matters and Clive Bennett, MGI Worldwide CEO, and Roger Isaacs, MGI Worldwide Chairman gave an informative appraisal of "The Culture of MGI".

Chris Downing of Sage presented on "Trends in Accountancy" and gave a valuable insight on what he sees on the horizon. Undoubted technology will have an ever-growing impact.

Targeted discussion groups and valued insights

After a lovely lunch, that provided the opportunity for yet more networking, delegates joined one of eight discussion groups to share experiences in their respective firms and countries. The groups were audit, tax, IFRS, technology, M&A, customer experience, accounting and VAT.

The meeting was closed by Zoltan Paksy, MGI Europe Regional Director, and Paul Winder, MGI UK & Ireland Regional Coordinator, who encouraged all attendees to consider how they could personally follow up after the meeting to turn new network contacts into long-term professional colleagues.

Thank you

MGI Worldwide international accounting association would like to thank everyone who supported this event and looks forward to welcoming more ‘new talent’ at next year’s event!
