MGI Africa region meets ahead of the MGI Worldwide 2019 Annual General Meeting

2019 MGI Africa accounting network held its region meeting in Dubai on 23 October

MGI Africa, part of international accountancy association MGI Worldwide, held its annual region meeting for accountancy group members in Dubai.

The MGI Africa regional members decided to “kill two birds with one stone” by having a half-day regional meeting on Wednesday 23 October. This move ensured that the region was represented by 73% of members at the MGI Worldwide AGM, also held in Dubai, on 23-25 October.

Daddy Nkuvu, partner at MGI Strong Nkv, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and newly elected Africa representative on the International Committee, chaired the meeting and shared his vision for the region.

Working synergies across countries

Many of the firms were meeting each other for the first time so time was allocated for each firm to make a presentation focussing on the firm, the country and their expectation of the Africa region and their MGI Worldwide membership. This started discussions on the various opportunities in the respective countries and how members can tap on each other’s expertise, which was a great lead into the main discussion of how we can grow and develop new business.

Informative sessions and discussions

Felix Kimoli, from Alekim Associates LLP, Kenya, moderated the session on “Global business development/Cross Border selling”. Many ideas and suggestions were debated and discussed. An action plan was drawn up with the agreement of all the members.

A short time was also spent discussing training & exchange of staff and how we can deepen our involvement in the African market.
