MGI Australasia and MGI Worldwide are delighted to announce joining of dynamic Melbourne firm Dobbyn + Carafa to the MGI Family

MGI Worldwide accountancy network announce the joining of Melbourne firm Dobbyn + Carafa to the MGI Family

The MGI Australasia region is delighted to welcome the dynamic and accomplished team at Melbourne-based Dobbyn + Carafa to MGI Worldwide, expanding the global accounting network’s representation across Australasia and creating exciting prospects in the region, and internationally.

Last year, Dobbyn + Carafa embarked on its second major strategic planning process as part of a two-day strategy workshop/retreat in Marysville. During the retreat, the team collaborated on the future vision of Dobbyn + Carafa and the many ways in which the firm can grow and excel. Aside from discussing the many benefits of membership to an international network – and MGI Worldwide specifically – they also found time to enjoy some team bonding on the ski slopes!

Dobbyn + Carafa is a relatively young firm who offers traditional services in a fresh, innovative way. They partner with businesses to deliver a ‘one-stop-shop’ for taxation, accounting, consulting and corporate advisory services and, since their founding in 2006, Dobbyn + Carafa have provided services in Business Advisory, Superannuation, Retirement and Estate Planning, Transaction Support, Strategy and Efficiency, Outsourcing, Assurance, Bookkeeping and Human Capital.

With values based around trust, innovation, respect, courage and inspiration, Dobbyn + Carafa’s purpose is “to inspire positive, radical change in our clients, employees, and profession through partnering and collaboration.”

Dobbyn + Carafa’s client base has grown dramatically since they launched and ranges from small-to-medium enterprises to large privately held companies and family groups with operations located throughout Australia, some of which have operations offshore. They are now keen to expand their horizons with other quality organisations and recognise that one of the best ways to do this is through membership to a global network.

In 2006, founding Directors, Anthony Dobbyn and Anthony Carafa, were Partners at MGI Boyd in Melbourne; a former MGI Worldwide member firm. They are well acquainted with members from MGI SydneyMGI Adelaide and MGI South Queensland, so were aware of the benefits of membership. These relationships, combined with their previous positive experiences of membership, proved valuable in forming the decision to join as a member of MGI Worldwide in the Australasia region.

Dobbyn + Carafa currently has three Directors, with the addition of Mathew Skelley in September 2017, and the firm’s diverse Leadership Team has grown to include nine professionals, each with their own unique skill-set.

Speaking of the retreat in the mountains of Marysville, Anthony Dobbyn explained that "at Dobbyn + Carafa we openly share our priorities with our firm at the start of the year, and as part of that, we explained our intention to join an international network."

Anthony continued to explain that the firm’s number one reason for joining the MGI Worldwide global accountancy network was to allow the firm to offer their staff both national and international secondments, particularly to firms in New Zealand and the UK, are seen as critical in helping staff to meet their aspirations and career path ambitions. They are also interested in opportunities in Hong Kong, Singapore, and China.

Expanding MGI Australasia’s Executive committee

Anthony expressed that "our experience so far has been fantastic, and we look forward to the future representing Melbourne as an important part of MGI Australasia and MGI Worldwide."

He is keen to continue a long and prosperous relationship with MGI Worldwide, and we are delighted to announce that, as part of that relationship, Anthony Dobbyn will be joining the board as a member of MGI Australasia’s Executive committee.

Speaking of the appointment, Chairman Lorin Joyce said "Dobbyn + Carafa is a fabulous firm - we are very excited to have them on board. We feel that they will provide a really valuable contribution to the MGI Australasia Executive Committee, bringing new ideas to the table."
