During the recent 2020 Virtual Global Meeting, MGI Worldwide CPAAI Co-Chair, Roger Isaacs, was joined by colleagues from around the world to deliver the 2020 Global Update.
The 12-hour rolling programme saw Roger and colleagues give three Global updates to cater for the different time zones, each update summarising what’s happened since the merger of MGI Worldwide with CPAAI and the outlook for the future.
Regional representation
For the first presentation, Roger was joined by Lawrence Wong - IC Member representing CPAAI in Asia and Director at FTW & Partners CPA Limited, Hong Kong. Next, Andreas Klier - Partner at Pape & Co GmbH, Germany presented with Roger and finally, Cuauhtémoc Alfonso - EC and IC Member representing CPAAI in Latin America and Partner at Despacho Zesati y Cia, Mexico.
Growing together
In the update, Roger noted that one of the challenges of a big merger was always going to be bringing cultures and new organisations together. This started well this year, with a series of successful physical meetings, but these were abruptly halted due to Covid-19.
However, the organisation rose to the challenge and immediately began to look for alternative ways to bring MGI and CPAAI members together and offer support to all its members through the global pandemic. Member support webinars, star speaker and tech-based webinars, as well as a number of working groups were set up, all culminating, of course, in the exceedingly successful 2020 Virtual Global Meeting.
Roger concluded: “Friendship is what lies at the heart of this organisation and as members have got to know each other, the division between MGI Worldwide and CPAAI starts to blur.”
