How do you survive & thrive in these unprecedented times? The Asia Region virtual meeting considers and discusses

MGI Worldwide CPAAI accounting network held its 2021 Asia region meeting virtually on 9 September

With a theme of “Surviving & Thriving”, the Asia Region virtual meeting was held on 9 September 2021. The event attracted 45 members from across Asia and a few guests from Australia & Africa.

For about 3 hours, members enjoyed a varied programme including Regional & Global updates, the opportunity to meet SBS and Company LLP, (the new member firm based in Hyderabad, India), the participation of a leading global Keynote Speaker, and of course, time to interact and engage with one another, and meet new faces.

How do you survive & thrive in these unprecedented times?

Prior to the start of the formal meeting, members spent around 15 minutes connecting & re-connecting with each other.

After the welcome by Imran Assan, partner at MGI Alliance PAC, based in Singapore, and Lawrence Wong, partner at FTW CPA (Practising) Limited, based in Hong Kong, the IC members for the Asia region, regional & global updates were presented by Audrey Danasamy, Regional Director & Clive Bennett, the Worldwide CEO respectively.

Harsha Vardhan, partner of newly inducted member SBS and Company LLP from Hyderabad, Telangana, did a quick overview of the firm.

"Challenge the Status Quo" was an interesting session organised by the region's members. It was moderated by Thanadee Hongratana-uthai from Nathee Audit Co. Limited; with panelist Dickson Leung of LehmanBrown, from China; Shankar Thapa of Shankar & Associates, Nepal; and Tanjilur Rahman from KWSR, Bangladesh. The objective was for members to learn from each other through the sharing of ideas of new services offered, setting up of dedicated sales teams, helping distressed clients manage their financials and others.

Insights from a Futurist

Guest speaker Gerd Leonhard, Futurist & Humanist provided a pre-recorded address on his views of Technology and the what is in store for the professional services sector over the next 10 years.

The concluding session presented by Maxine Brock, International Marketing Director and Nicki Lynn, International Business Development Manager highlighted how members can use their membership to survive and thrive. Real life examples were highlighted with members providing their input on collaboration. The members involved in the outsourcing project with North America members, Amit Chopra of GCA Associates Private Limited, Anuj Sharedalal of C.R. Sharedalal & Co. and Deepak Goil of Tambakad & Goil, all based in India.

Members of the MGI Worldwide CPAAI network stayed on after the main session to discuss and vote on the region’s admin and financial matters.
