Australasia update, May/June 2014

Christine Greiser, reports back on the latest news from the area:

Forthcoming meetings in Australasia

MGI Australasia is now only weeks away from our AGM to be held in Perth on 17 – 18th July. Delegates will be flying in one day earlier to participate in a day of Committee meetings on July 16th. The Committee meetings will include Practice Management, Tax, Audit and a meeting of the MGI Australasia Executive Committee. This year will feature two sponsors who are sponsoring the AGM for a second time – MYOB a provider of accounting software and Accountancy Insurance. Arrangements are well underway.

MGI South Queensland is hosting the second MGI Australasia Audit Conference on 16 May in Brisbane. The Conference with give the audit staff an opportunity to network and discuss topics and areas of interest.

Work is also underway with planning the MGI Australasian Tax Summit to be held later in the year.

New website for MGI Australasia

With the departure of MGI Melbourne and the search for a replacement firm it was obvious that the old MGI Australasia website was looking tired and out of date. The last refresh of the website was undertaken six years ago with much of the text not being updated for eight years. The new website was launched at the end of April. It has been developed to feature MGI Australasia’s blogs and tweets and is a huge improvement on our previous website.

Being in the RED

MGI Australasia has appointed PR RED agency to increase our media profile in Australasia. RED have been proactively finding opportunities for us to build the MGI brand as can be seen by the following examples:
