Cape Town hosts an unforgettable 2025 Global AGM!

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Table Mountain and brilliant spring skies, the 2025 Global AGM in Cape Town was truly one of our most memorable yet. The Vineyard Hotel’s home-from-home feel with its peaceful gardens, relaxed spaces, and impeccable service, (and the occasional wandering tortoise), gave the event the atmosphere of an intimate house party, enjoyed by all.

The programme was packed from start to finish, with a balance of professional insight, open discussion, and great opportunities to connect with old friends and new. Music, dance and flavours of Africa set the rhythm for a relaxed, inspiring few days that brought our global community together.

Thought provoking insights from our guest speakers

Our guest speakers were an event highlight bringing powerful perspectives that inspired and challenged us to think differently.

Quinton Coetzee took us back to basics using vivid bushveld metaphors and powerful storytelling to inspire a reconnection with instinct, sharpen business thinking, and deepen understanding of human potential.

“I have just witnessed one of the best presentations of my life. Sensational.”
Greg Newbury, Australia

Daniel Silke, Director of Political Futures Consulting, dived into Politics and economics delivering a compelling update on the global and South African economic landscape, helping members make sense of the shifting political and business environment.

Bronwyn Williams, futurist and business trends analyst at Flux Trends, looked to the future. Through lively discussion on topics like “BS jobs,” activist consumers, and the ownership economy, Bronwyn encouraged a shift from fear to opportunity — a thought-provoking close to our programme.

World Café: a new way of networking

Networking is always a key focus at MGI meetings, and this year saw members making new connections and sharing ideas in the new World Café discussions based around the themes of Technology, Talent, and Succession. Huge thanks to Andreas Klier and our 12 table hosts who helped make it all happen.

"You realise whether in London, Munich or Sydney – the management challenges are remarkably similar. How do we deal with topics like technology, talent and succession while preserving the culture that makes us strong?"
— Andreas Klier, Germany

Representing Cottons Group at this year’s Global AGM has been a blast. I have met so many colleagues from all around the world, sharing common issues and opportunities. It’s been so much fun and I don’t think I have ever eaten so much. We are well catered for!”

Community, culture and celebration

Beyond the conference programme, the spirit of Cape Town shone through in every detail.

The AGM officially kicked off with a welcome reception where attendees enjoyed local food and wine at a traditional South African braai.

Dining at Karibu on the vibrant V&A Waterfront, delegates were treated to an interactive djembe drums performance that brought everyone together in true South African style. This was followed by a moving performance from Isibane Se Afrika, whose powerful voices set the tone for an evening of connection and celebration and were undoubtedly a conference highlight for many.

Recognising member milestones

Following the dinner, awards recognising 25 years of membership were presented to Revideco from Sweden, De Chazal & Associates from Mauritius and smc Steirer Mika & Co from Austria.

“This milestone means a lot to us - it reflects a long-standing commitment to international collaboration, shared values and an incredible community of professionals across the globe. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at MGI for this recognition, and to all our colleagues who have been part of this journey.”
— Caisa Westin, Revideco, Sweden

Supporting the local community

This year we were proud to support the Bhongolethu Foundation, presenting the school with a cheque for 3500USD towards the funding of new classroom libraries. It was especially meaningful to visit the Foundation in person during our time in Cape Town — a reminder of how our network’s collective efforts can make a real difference beyond the conference room.

Thank you to our host firm

On the opening day, members explored the city’s famous Sea Point Promenade on a meander hosted MGI’s Cape Town member firm, MGI Bass Gordon – complete with bespoke donuts to keep everyone’s energy up.

“It was an absolute pleasure as host firm to welcome all our international and local delegates… listening to inspiring messages and thought-provoking presentations about our future as leaders in our profession. Thank you to everyone involved in making this 2025 AGM a huge success!”
