MGI Australasia stamps expertise on tax matters
One way members can expand and attract new business is to position yourself as a regional expert in a particular field; something that MGI Australasia does particularly well as it becomes known as a small business and tax specialist.
MGI Australasia Chairman and Partner at MGI South Queensland, Grant Field, does a lot to promote MGI and the most recent example saw him interviewed by the press to discuss Australia’s 2015 budget announcement.
A key policy will allow small businesses to claim a tax deduction for the full value of assets worth up to $20,000 in a single year; something that Grant likens to a “sugar hit” to kickstart the economy.
“The key will be whether small business uses this concession to purchase productive assets to help them grow their business rather than nonproductive assets,” he told the media.
Grant also noted that a five per cent reduction in the tax rate for small business owners would produce a “definite incentive to incorporate”.
It comes after the MGI Australasia Chairman appeared on Sky News to talk about the importance for small business owners to have a will.
Meanwhile, Brendan Brown, Partner at MPR Group, one of MGI Australasia’s newest members, discussed the latest tax issues with Sky News before the budget.
These are a just a few of the examples of how MGI firms across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region are raising the profile of the alliance.
